After writing the summary of my travels in 2011 and reading A Dangerous Business’ year by the numbers, I got a bit curious, so I did a bit of adding up and came up with the following stats on how 2011 treated me.

Flights: 18

Long haul flights: 9

Miles flown: 59222 (94755.2km)

Airports: 9 (Hong Kong, Singapore, Brisbane, Sydney, London Heathrow, Los Angeles, Houston Intercontinental, Auckland & Wellington)

Visits to my grandparents: 2

Miles flown by my mother to visit scattered family: 50700 in 10 flights (81120km)

Days away from home: 69

Beds slept in while traveling: 14

Roaming charges: $131.54 (Oops — $50 was for just trying to use the internet while in London)

Chest infections: 3

Travel insurance claims: 1

Cancelled trips: 1.5 (Australian Open in January, North Island skiing in September)

Frequent flyer miles redeemed: 67,500 (Air NZ Business Class – my mom’s miles) + 25,000 (Continental) + 66,000 (Qantas) = 158,500 total

Frequent flyer miles refunded: 24,000 (2 flights with no cancellation fee due to Brisbane floods)

Major floods: 1

Adorable wallabies fed and/or patted (this one’s for you, Nancy): 4 or 5 (including the world’s sweetest wallaby at Lone Pine and a little baby that I didn’t feed at Currumbin)

Rugby games attended: 3 (Reds semifinal, Bledisloe Cup & Australia vs. USA in the RWC)

National parks visited: 3 (Lamington, Springbrook, and Glass House Mountains)

Ferris wheels ridden: 1 (Singapore Flyer)

Jet skis ridden:

Times wakeboarding: 1 (poor effort)

Photographs taken: More than 5440 (there’s a few I still haven’t transferred)
