Photo of the Week: Brisbane’s Lights from Kangaroo Point

Brisbane City by Night

The lights of Brisbane, as seen from the top of the cliffs at Kangaroo Point.

Last weekend, the PSQ (Photographic Society of Queensland) held their annual convention at the State Library of Queensland. As a first-time attendee, I had a great time. I found the speakers to be inspiring and incredibly interesting; many of their talks inspired me to get out and try what they do for a living (like diving with humpback whales — how awesome does that sound?!).

After all of the sessions, there were plenty of workshops to choose from where we actually got to put some of what we had learned into effect. I chose the portraiture shoot and got some great photos of some Bollywood dancers in the late afternoon light near the river. Those same dancers came to our shoot/dinner at Kangaroo Point later in the evening. While I wasn’t very enamoured of any of my evening portraiture, I was really happy with some of the long exposure shots I took after everyone had finished dinner and headed home. I was lucky that the rain held off for just long enough so I could get these very moody shots of Brisbane City!

Here are a few other shots from around Kangaroo Point:
